DVD burner has come a long way in the past six months. Speed has increased dramatically from where it was just a year ago and price has dropped to a point where a DVD burner costs about the same as a CD-RW drive. Dual-Layer support of DVD burner has also made it into many of the models, doubling the capacity of traditional DVD media. Here is some currently available DVD burner equipment.

DVD burner NEC ND-3500A was one of the first drives on the market to push support for the DVD+R dual layer format. The new ND-3520A DVD burner is an update to this well tested drive that increases the performance levels for the dual layered media.

DVD burner Toshiba is the TS-H552B is a 16x DVD+R and 12x DVD-R burner. It also has a 40x CD-R burning speed. Dual-layered media is supported at the 2.4x speed. The DVD burner has extremely strong CD-R reading and writing performance and good DVD speeds. This makes it excellent choice for those who still strongly use CD media.

DVD burner Lite On offers a lot of value for its low costs. The new SOHW-1673S offers very high speeds when it comes to burning. It supports 16x for both DVD+R and -R media and even the new 6x DVD-RW speeds.

DVD burner Plextor serial ATA has become very popular for hard drives in new computers but for some reason it has not made its way to optical drives. The Plextor PX-716SA is one of the few drives available with this new interface.

DVD burner BenQ offers Lightscribe - a fairly new technology that allows the CD or DVD burner to burn a label directly onto compatible media. This is a feature that HP has been advertising heavily with its new computers, but for those who want this feature on their computer, BenQ offers it on the DW1625 DVD burner.
